South of Eden – The Talk
As I sit and contemplate the pandemic, I keep thinking to myself 2021 should be a banner damn year for Rock n Roll. After all, everyone has been in quarantine and should be using this time to write and record new stuff right? Others are releasing new music and kicking ass, and one of those bands is South Of Eden from Columbus, OH. The 4 piece comprising of Ehab Omran (vocals and acoustic guitar), Justin Young (lead guitar and vocals), Tom McCullough (drums) and Nick Frantianne (bass), you might even remember the band as Black Coffee.
Their EP, “The Talk”, might only be 4 songs, but it’s 4 songs that are in your face, kick ass straight up Rock N Roll just the way I like it. No bullshit, no filler, just great riffs, and killer vocals. You can hear their influences from AC/DC to Black Sabbath, to Van Halen, and Aerosmith on every track. How can you go wrong with bands like that paving the way for your own music? That’s right. You can’t!
Take it from the band themselves – “We’re a band that writes, records, and plays like the pioneers of rock before us. We aren’t looking to bring anything back, but instead to remind people what rock n roll means. No rules. This music represents what we believe is real, raw music. No click tracks and triggers or copy and paste bullshit. Just a bunch of hippies in a room.”
One has to love this attitude in a time where new music is hard to find especially some bad ass tunes like these.
‘The Talk’ is available now through LAVA / Republic Records, connect with South Of Eden here.
Give the songs a listen, I promise you won’t be disappointed. I would never steer you wrong when it comes to music these days. In fact, I can almost guarantee you will be cranking this up to 11 at the start of your first listen. You can check them out Friday August 28 at 8pm ET on their Facebook and YouTube channels.
