Blacktop Mojo – Static EP
One thing positive to come out of this quarantine is new music from the guys in Blacktop Mojo. These guys always seem to be hard at work. Whether it is interacting with their fans on social media, hanging out jamming, playing shows (when they can) or in this case writing a new EP.
Static has 4 tracks and they kick mucho ass. I have spent many hours listening to these 4 songs mixed in with their last release (Under the Sun), and these songs weren’t leftover, but they could have fit right in. Blacktop Mojo have the work ethic, the chops, and the talent to go the next level. They can and should be the next huge rock band.
Matt (Blacktop Mojo Singer) reveals this about Watch Me Drown, “This song was written at a mental valley in my life. I was in my head all the time. I was angry. I was depressed. I felt like I was obviously down in the dumps and couldn’t understand why no one could see that I was in pain. The thing is though through that whole time, I never reached out for help. I bottled up those feelings and became angrier and angrier at everyone else for not being able to read my mind. I was a nightmare to be around. Eventually it got to a breaking point.”
Don’t let the acoustic guitars on the EP fool you, the band still tears it up.
I feel like a lot of bands have wasted the past few months of quarantine, but Blacktop Mojo delivers. They managed to a release an EP that without a doubt should be in the collection.
If you haven’t done so check out their website, Facebook, IG, and download their damn album here. This one should go to 11.
